This gorgeous Irish couple, accompanied by their Vizsla puppy, Rusty held their engagement session at Bewong River Retreat on the NSW South Coast
Dani & Rob // Engagement
Gorgeous couple, cute puppy, golden sunset... sessions like these are what make my heart happy! I have the honour of shooting Dani & Rob's wedding in just a few months time and we headed down to beautiful Bombo, near Kiama for our engagement session. Their sweet fur baby Oakley kiiiiiinda stole the show as you can see from the images below, but I mean.. look at the little guy. He's too cute!
This was actually the second engagement session I've held with Dani & Rob, as they entered a competition to win a free engagement session I ran many moons ago now and were the winners! So our first session was all about them and the love they have for each other, and in the very near future this session will be featured on the Australian wedding blog, Polka Dot Bride so keep your eyes peeled for that one! Oakley was only still a few weeks old at the time of our last session so we waited for him to have all the necessary vaccinations and grow a little more before setting the date for this one.
Dani and Rob are just two peas in a pod. With similar personalities of both such humble, loving and caring natures I just know that they'll have a lifetime of happiness in store for them.
Can't wait for the wedding!
Chris, Maddy & Hunter
With eyes that tell a thousand stories, and umpteen in-between moments, this session is one of my favourites from recent. This may also have a large thing to do with this family being three of my favourite people, and the cutest family unit ever.
Hunter is the son of one of my oldest friends, Chris & his gorgeous partner Maddy. He's almost one, and we headed down to the local gardens at sunset for their first family session. This little guy (Hunter that is!) is seriously such a good boy, with killer smiles, a cheeky laugh and curls that go for days.
Throughout this series you'll see the close bond within this family, the love, the laughter, the cuddles... and one of Hunter's favourite toys which makes one heck of a lot of noise! These are important in family sessions, particularly with younger kids that aren't yet comprehensive to the spoken word and cheeky bribes - bring along their favourite toy or something to spark their interest (on the spot, keys usually are a hit!) to get their attention and spark those token giggles!
The Dockrill Family
This session brought me so much joy! A family full of love and laughter, with a "whatever goes" attitude are seriously the dream. The Dockrills travelled down to the Illawarra from Western Sydney for our family session, and their gorgeous Border Collie named Reggie came along for the ride.
Our first scheduled session we had to postpone due to inclement weather. I'd promised this location with stunning sunset colour, and well, when it's raining and overcast this is far from achievable. Thankfully we did reschedule because check out that punchy sunset colour! The light over our location was exactly what I had invisioned for our session and I could not have been happier!
I got to know this family through Mum, Elise who is a super talented photographer herself! Elise is the face behind Floragraphica, and specialises in bespoke imagery of wedding bouquets and floral arrangements. Brides, this is a PERFECT way to preserve your wedding bouquet following your wedding. Elise photographs the intricate details of your wedding florals, creating statement art pieces for your walls, and immortalizing your wedding florals well before they wilt for you to keep forever! I could seriously plug Elise's work all day, she's undeniably amazing at what she does!
And here is her clan! Her two beautiful children, husband and fur-baby Reggie; enjoying some sunset fun in the waves of one of Wollongong's best beaches.
Amy & Kyle - Engagement
There's just something so magical about watching the sun head behind the horizon to sign off for another day. Almost as magical as finding that someone who your heart just knows will be your forever.
Amy & Kyle are so well suited for each other! From our first meeting over coffee to discuss their upcoming wedding plans I could see the very strong and solid connection these two share.
With their August 2018 wedding fast approaching, we headed down to one of the Illawarra's best beaches for their sunset engagement session a few weeks ago. This week put out some of the best sunsets that we'd yet to have seen for Autumn and the day of our session the sky did not disappoint! Our session was full of fun and laughs, reflecting these qualities of their personalities and showing the bond that their hearts share.
Looking forward to their wedding at the end of August!
When I'm not shooting weddings, I have a huge soft spot for family sessions. Usually weddings are on a Saturday, so most Sunday's I'll have either a few family or engagement sessions on my calendar. The Worthington family wanted something a little different for their family session - and I was all for it!
We kicked off our session at their home in the northern suburbs of the Illawarra, where we got to really see the playful personalities of Anna & Charlie, two of the cutest kids I've ever met! I think this is the only time they'll be allowed to jump on Mum and Dad's bed and get away with it too!
With a wardrobe change and a change of pace from the intimate and cosy home environment, we headed up to the Rhododendron Gardens in Mt Pleasant. Though it is Autumn here, we've had a very Summer-like start to the season, and those trees that are usually already beautiful shades of orange with leaves falling everywhere are still very green. Though, we did find a spot where it seemed that all of the fallen leaves had left a sort of natural carpet on the ground - which made for the perfect props to finish off our Autumn family session with some leaf throwing fun!
Mel & her husband Trent are the owners of local children's clothing business Willow n Oak. Together with her Nan, they custom hand-make every design within their label - how awesome is that?! In our garden images, the overalls that Charlie is wearing, and the mustard romper that Anna are wearing are both new designs to the Willow n Oak clothing label. Definitely head on over to their site and check these designs out - there are some seriously adorable outfits on offer!
Hes & Styve // Married
Hes & Styve's wedding was held in Sydney's picturesque Centennial Park and it was such a gorgeous day! However, this was not the initial wedding they had planned.
Due to a recent medical battle, their initial large South Coast wedding plans were changed, to a more intimate and laid back wedding much closer to home. With this change of plans, it turned out that their new wedding was so much more suited to their personalities and much more them - which is what a wedding day should be all about!
Given the hard and testing few months they've had on top of the stress that comes with wedding planning, planning a whole new wedding in just a number of months, Hes's family and close friends all making the trip over to Australia from the UK, and just the absolute perfect day, there was a lot of emotion as these two beautiful people became husband and wife. With everything the past few months has been for this couple, it's a testament to the strength of their connection, and the love that they have for each other.
Thankyou Hes & Styve for inviting me to capture such a special day for both you, and your families!

Ingrid & Situa // Married
All the way from Griffith, Ingrid & Situa travelled the picturesque Illawarra for their wedding! They met through a mutual friend at the pub, how very Aussie! They've been together for 8 years, and engaged for four, after Situa popped the question at the lookout point in Griffith following a nice meal shared together.
Their wedding was held at Panorama House, overlooking Wollongong on the escarpment. For the morning preparations, they rented AirBnB properties and both of these properties I felt both gave a little character! For groom prep, there was a natural timber outdoor bar and for the boys with their custom flasks and glasses, bottle of Wild Turkey and cuban cigars - this was perfect! For the ladies, the property was so full of natural light, and in the adjoining yard there was a huge bamboo plant which made for the perfect setting for a few quick snaps before the girls jumped in the limo.
There was a lot of emotion on their day, which you'll see from the images below. From Ingrid's Mum, proud as punch as she gifted Ingrid with a necklace representing their New Zealand heritage which she kept with her all day around her wrist, to not a dry eye when Ingrid first turned around dressed in her wedding gown. To when Situa first laid eyes on Ingrid as she was accompanied down the aisle by her Grandmother, to finally saying "I Do" and the nerves and anticipation that the morning brought to them both, finally disappearing.
Much alike myself, Ingrid is a passionate footy fan and her beloved New Zealand Warriors were playing the Canberra Raiders on their wedding day, and here she is in the limo on her way to her wedding watching the game live on the NRL app. Now this is just a true fan here - in her wedding dres, on her way to the ceremony... and watching the footy! Luckily, in what was a very close game, the Warriors got the win with a final score of 20-19 which just added that cherry on top of a wonderful day of happiness for her and Situa.
A highlight for me of their day, was at their reception. Both Ingrid and Situa are very close with their families, and their cultural backgrounds. Ingrid's family background is New Zealand, Situa's is Tongan. We had cultural prayers in native tongue, song and dances from both sides of the family and being able to witness all of this culture come together was truly amazing. Situa's younger sister performed the Tongan dance, whereby it is custom that while she is dancing, that guests bring up money to her, which is then given to the newlyweds. After the music started and she started dancing, the Best Man, Situa's brother was on the dancefloor, followed by family, friends and Situa also. I just love how connected and inclusive this was!
Congratulations once again to you both and thankfully for inviting me along to share and capture your special day!

Hayley & Jayla - Mother/Daughter Family Session
Most normal people opt for hitting the beach to enjoy some fun in the sun, or stay inside with the air conditioning blasting when it's a 40°C day, but on this day last month I had a mini-session marathon, and this session was one of these!
This location is undoubtedly one of my favourites in the Illawarra. These fig trees just have so much character, and I feel for family sessions just bring something else to the table. I just love this spot!
Hayley contacted me for a mother-daughter family session shortly after I captured her sister's engagement, just weeks before. I love when clients recommend me to their friends and family! Next time I see Hayley, she'll be the maid of honour at her sister's wedding, later this year.
Hayley & Jayla have such a special connection and I loved being able to witness this at our session. Family sessions I feel should be more about the connections, rather than stale rigid posing. In this session, we had eskimo kisses, walks with stories, cuddles, tickles, hide and seek and everything else we could think of - embracing the connection, and just having a lot of fun in doing so. A lot of my clients say at the start of our session "I'm not very photogenic" and "we need a lot of direction", and leave the session saying how it wasn't as awkward as they thought it would be, in fact it wasn't awkward at all, and that they had fun!
With Mother's Day very quickly approaching, have you considered gifting Mum with a family session? Trust me, she'll love it!
