Winter is the perfect time to capture the love between you and your family, or significant other! This engagement session was held at Port Kembla, NSW.
Dani & Rob // Engagement
Gorgeous couple, cute puppy, golden sunset... sessions like these are what make my heart happy! I have the honour of shooting Dani & Rob's wedding in just a few months time and we headed down to beautiful Bombo, near Kiama for our engagement session. Their sweet fur baby Oakley kiiiiiinda stole the show as you can see from the images below, but I mean.. look at the little guy. He's too cute!
This was actually the second engagement session I've held with Dani & Rob, as they entered a competition to win a free engagement session I ran many moons ago now and were the winners! So our first session was all about them and the love they have for each other, and in the very near future this session will be featured on the Australian wedding blog, Polka Dot Bride so keep your eyes peeled for that one! Oakley was only still a few weeks old at the time of our last session so we waited for him to have all the necessary vaccinations and grow a little more before setting the date for this one.
Dani and Rob are just two peas in a pod. With similar personalities of both such humble, loving and caring natures I just know that they'll have a lifetime of happiness in store for them.
Can't wait for the wedding!
Hannah & Nathan // Engagement
I love when I meet with my couples and they're as silly and chilled out as I am. This was exactly the case with Hannah & Nathan - actually I think my personality is the blend of the two of theirs combined!
I had a blast capturing their engagement session in one of my favourite, less-travelled to parts of the Illawarra. I recommend with engagement sessions to opt for a location that contrasts to your wedding location. Hannah & Nathan are a military couple, both in the Australian Navy, and will be married on base in Sydney later this year. With the picturesque Sydney Harbour views that will serve as the perfect backdrop for their wedding images, they travelled down to my neck of the woods and held our session in beautiful bushland of the Illawarra escarpment, overlooking Wollongong.
Oh, and if you bring your daughter along - I totally can't promise that she won't steal the spotlight for your session! Isn't Vida just adorable! This week, Hannah and Nathan have announced some very exciting news, that there'll be a new addition attending their wedding, with their second daughter due in August. What an upcoming exciting year ahead for this growing family!
Hes & Styve // Engaged
Engagement sessions are a great way to get to know your photographer, and their style prior to your wedding day in a more relaxed and casual environment. I encourage my couples to think about their hobbies, if there is a sentimental or special location for them - could be where they had their first date, or just where they like to spend their weekends. I think engagement sessions are all the more special, and personal when they have an element that represents the couple. Eg. If you and your fiancé are in the surf most mornings and just live for the beach - then I'd probably recommend we choose a beach session to reflect this.
With Hes and Styve, being a Sydney couple they regularly frequent the Centennial Parklands on their weekends with their adorable son Ollie. My gosh, what a place! These parklands aren't just a normal patch of grass with a playground set upon it - no. These parklands have ponds, grasslands, fields, woodlands galore and it's absolutely huge! This place has so much to offer and a huge variety of landscapes, there was no wonder that this family regularly come here! But it was set, there was no better choice for our location than Centennial Parklands. We set our place to meet, but the minute I parked and got out of the car I knew where we'd be holding our session.
This gorgeous tunnel alley of trees, with this stunning soft light shining through was right next to where I parked! I took a quick snap and when I met up with Hes & Styve at the nearby café, showed them the location I'd just seen and they were as hooked as I was!
Now as I mentioned earlier, engagement sessions are best when they're a visual representation of the couple. Their son, is a super important element of their life - so of course we included him! This goes for pets, children, sentimental items - things that reflect you as a couple I love. The love that Hes & Styve have for each other, and their combined love for Ollie just flourished in our session. I like to have fun with all of my sessions, there's always a lot of laughter involved and this session was no exception to this! There's no rigid "alright guys, nice in close together, looking at the camera and on the count of three, say cheese!" with my sessions. I'm all about capturing your personalities, the inside moments, the love and the laughter in a very relaxed, laid-back and candid way - capturing shots that nine times out of ten, when you receive your gallery back you won't even know these moments happened!
Hes & Styve will be married back at this beautiful location in April, and I cannot wait to capture their upcoming intimate wedding!
Rebecca & Michael // Engaged
This year's been a year of love and excitement for the Leet family! A family of 3 children, one recently married, and 2 engaged to their partners, both in March 2017 just weeks apart. How crazy is that?! Rebecca's brother Josh, I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with him and his fiance a few months ago capturing their engagement session at Killalea State Park.
For Rebecca & Michael's session, we decided upon a sunrise at the beach. Here on the East Coast of Australia, we're lucky to have the sun rise over the ocean, and with some of the best beaches in the world - they're a perfect location!
We had had a stint of rain the day prior but thankfully the Bureau of Meterology gave the green light for clear skies. There was still a bank of cloud buildup on the horizon when we met on location, but the colour that emerged soon after was phenomenal! Definitely worth the early morning alarm on a Sunday morning!
Rebecca and Michael will be married locally next year.
Reagen & Mat // Engaged
Being from the Macarthur region, Reagen & Mat wanted to hold their engagement session up in their local area. This stunning region is only a short drive up the road, and we set on Camden for our session. There are so many hidden gems in this region, really is such a beautiful picturesque area!
Their engagement session was a mix of both capturing their love, and the love within their family, with their 2 year old son Finn. And, might I add, he's the cutest 2 year old ever!
From a previous wedding I knew of a few spots I absolutely adored in Camden. This old rusty horse stable being one of them - so this was our first location. Off road, along an overgrown track, and I'm convinced Reagen & Mat may have thought I was leading them astray as they followed me along this trail, but here we were, and the golden light of the approaching sunset was just glistening through the trees.
We headed back down to an open field for the remainder of our session. Finn definitely stole the show here! With his attire matching his Dad's, a cheeky grin & those suspenders - he's a 2 year old with style!
Looking forward to capturing their wedding at Panorama House next month!
Lauren & Jack // Engaged
On their overseas holiday earlier this year, Jack popped the question. They were travelling through Europe, and in London on their anniversary they became engaged. What a place to pop the question right?!
We held our engagement session in the beautiful coastal town of Gerringong. The golden light of the sunset was superb, due to the back-burning for fire hazard reduction going on in the surrounding suburbs.
The connection between Lauren and Jack and their obvious adoration for each other, just radiated through our session. They are looking to tie the knot in 2019.
Keziah & Jacob // Engagement
These two have been together for 9 years. 9 YEARS! They're also good friends of mine and the love between them was as radiant at our engagement session, as it was when they first got together. We ventured up to the beautiful Southern Highlands for our session, and though I managed to take a few wrong turns and almost get us stuck up there, we had a ball of fun. And How incredible is that sunset light?! I'm convinced that the Highlands sunsets are some of the best that Australia has to offer.
Although I won't be shooting their wedding, I cannot wait to see these two FINALLY tie the knot, next year!
